I'll have to ask the doctor about this tomorrow...

I'm 15 1/2 weeks in, and I'm still 6 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight. I haven't gained any weight the whole time- it's just been going DOWN.

Before I was pregnant, I had absolutely no metabolism and couldn't lose weight to save my life. I just gradually packed on more pounds as time went by; sometimes I was even lucky enough to just maintain the pounds for a short period of time before gaining more.

When I became pregnant, weight started falling off me, even though I was eating much more than I ever did. It's not like I don't eat- I do (and often!), and it's not always the healthiest food in the world. My main cravings have been straight-up carbs - potatoes, pasta, pizza, and lots of them. Sometimes I crave french fries from fast food restaurants. I've eaten more fast food in the last few months than I have in the last few years. I don't eat a lot of sweets or anything, but there are plenty of high-calorie savory alternatives that I LOVE.

I'm afraid that baby Tucker isn't getting everything he needs. I'm at the point in my pregnancy where they say you're supposed to start eating an extra 300 calories a day. I ALREADY easily exceed the recommended daily calorie intake, and I'll gladly add 300 more to my diet. I'm not complaining about my weight by any means. I just want to make sure my lack of weight gain doesn't cause any problems or harm my son in any way.

Bring it up at your appointment if you are concerned. At your last u/s baby tucker measured on schedule so they probably aren't concerned with it. He is growing as he should. It is common for people who are on the heavier side to loose weight even if they experience no mornign sickness. It has to do with hormonial and body changes and how your system reacts to it. They will probably just make sure you are measuring correctly between now and your next u/s and if measurements start to be off address it then.

Chalk it up as a side effect =)

I really hope you're not very concerned because of me... :( But definitely ask your doctor! It sounds like you're getting the calories that me and baby Kimber need! :(

Shoot, if this is a side effect, I'll take it! lol In my years of medical hell, it'll be the first positive side effect (as long as it doesn't hurt him!)

But you're right - he has been measuring on schedule (he's actually been measuring ahead!), so that's always a positive sign. I'll still ask them about it tomorrow and see what they say.

Abbi- Don't worry- your experience isn't freaking me out or anything. (Although it is strange that a few pregnant women I know are having weight gain issues.)

I printed out this chart from babyyourbaby.org. According to my BMI, it says I shouldn't gain more than 15lbs anyway (even though my dr's office said I should gain 20-25 like any other pregnant woman, but I can't see my body being able to handle that much extra weight on top of what I already have). I'm still down on the x-axis, while the yellow line on the chart is beginning to steeply rise at this point. *shrugs* lol
